Top of the results, and requests first
In search results, on the job pages and on the town and category pages, Promoted listings come before free ones, with the Premium tag so readers can tell. If more than one listing is Promoted, the better match comes first, then A to Z. We take at most three Promoted businesses per category in each town: once a town is full, it's full.
You appear wherever your listing would appear anyway: the job pages for the work you do (your category) and the towns you cover, your town's page, your category's page and the search page. Promoted doesn't put you on pages for jobs or towns that aren't yours. The one list that isn't ordered this way is the home page's "Nearest to you", which is by distance.
Customer requests come to you first. When someone sends a Get local help request, or presses Request a quote, a person at LincsDirectory passes it on by email to the Promoted businesses that cover that job and town first. Free listings get a request only when no Promoted business covers the job and town. We aim to pass requests on within one working day and can't promise how many you'll get.
Promoted listings are paid placements and are always marked; see the terms.
One line about your business, then your first 3 service points; the rest is on your profile page.
✓ Service point one · ✓ Service point two · ✓ Service point three · +17 more on the profile
Covers your home area (up to 3 towns) · one line about your business, in your words.
▸ More about this business: up to 3 service bullets and a short description

Cover more than your local area
Work from home or travel to the job? We show the towns you cover instead of an address. A free listing covers your home area, up to 3 towns. Promoted covers as many towns as you serve, or the whole county.
Each town you cover puts you on that town's page, on its job pages for the work you do (for example "Boiler service in Grantham") and in searches for that town. Choose the whole county and your listing says "Covers all of Lincolnshire" and appears for every one of the 22 towns. You still only appear for your own category and jobs, and Promoted listings still come first.
Tell us the towns on the sign-up or claim form; we never publish a home address.
Illustration of the two coverage rules; the towns shown are an example, not a real business.
Customer ratings
Anyone can rate any business from its listing, free or Promoted, and a person reads every rating before it appears. We never invent ratings or counts.
Being Promoted doesn't change your ratings and doesn't buy a better score. What it adds is that your ratings and the latest approved comments show on your own profile page, next to your photo, description and website link, where a customer can act on them. You can reply to a rating through the claim form.
1 business has published ratings so far; the rest show “Be the first to rate”. Ratings policy.

Your own page
A page on LincsDirectory that is just about you: your logo and name, a main photo, your full description in paragraphs (up to 2,000 characters), up to 20 service points, a photo gallery of up to 8 images, the towns you cover (or “Covers all of Lincolnshire”) with each town pinned on a map, your opening hours, phone number, address or area, your ratings, a “Request a quote” button and a prominent "Visit website" button.
It has its own web address, sits in our sitemap for search engines, and is where your search card, your row on the town and job pages and your map pin all link to with a “See full profile” button. The card shows your logo, one line and your first 3 service points; everything else lives on the page. Work from home? We show the towns you cover, never a home address.

Your logo and up to 8 photos
Send us your logo and up to 8 photos of your business, your work or your van, each with a short caption. The logo goes in your profile header and, small, on your search card; the first photo is your main picture on the profile, the search card and the home-page carousel; the rest make a gallery on your profile page that opens each photo full size.
Landscape photos work best. We resize and compress them so pages stay fast (no photo over 400 KB); you keep the copyright and can swap any of them whenever you like by emailing hello@lincsdirectory.co.uk or through the claim form. No photos yet? Your page still works: the blocks simply aren't shown.
A link to your website
A clear "Visit website" button on your profile page and your search card, so people who like what they see go straight to you.
Free listings don't carry a website link at all. The link is for the people reading the page: search engines are told it's a paid placement (rel="sponsored"), as the rules require, so it won't move your Google ranking. Buy it for the clicks, not for SEO.

A full description, up to 20 service points, phone and hours
Your full description in your own words (up to 2,000 characters, in paragraphs), up to 20 service points of up to 80 characters each, your phone number (tappable on a mobile) and your opening hours, all on your profile page. Your search card carries your logo, one line and the first 3 service points, with a “See full profile” button for the rest.
A free listing you add or claim yourself carries one line about your business (up to 100 characters), up to 3 service bullets and a short description of about five lines (up to 400 characters) under “More about this business”; listings built from public records carry none of this. We never add phone numbers, hours or descriptions unless the business gives them to us. Credentials you mention are shown as supplied by you, never as verified, and readers are told to check before they book.

When your subscription starts we send you a report from Aide, our plain-English business-reports service (normally from £4.99): what's right and wrong with your website and online listings, and how you compare with the businesses down the road.
It arrives by email within a few days of your listing going live. Aide is run by TAG Sleaford Ltd, the company behind LincsDirectory.
Plain-English business reports from £4.99

Your listing stays Promoted until the end of the month you've paid for, then goes back to free: your name, category, map pin, one-line description, up to 3 service bullets, a short description and your ratings stay, and your area goes back to your home area (up to 3 towns); the profile page, logo, photos, website link, hours and the full description come off. We give at least 30 days' notice of any price change. Terms · who bills you.

Free is a real listing, not a teaser.
Most Lincolnshire businesses with a public address are already here from public records; tradespeople and services join through the For businesses form. A free listing you add or claim yourself shows your name, your category, your address or the area you cover (your home area, up to 3 towns), a pin on the map, customer ratings, one line about your business, up to 3 service bullets and a short description of about five lines (all in your own words, under a “More about this business” toggle), an "Added by the business" tag and an Update details link, and appears on the job pages for the work you do. Nothing to pay, ever.
Customer requests. Customer requests reach you as emails marked “Lead from LincsDirectory”. Promoted businesses covering the job and town get requests first; free listings get them only when no Promoted business covers it. We aim to pass them on by email within one working day; we can't promise how many you'll get.
Listings built from public records show only the name, address and category until the business claims them. Free listings have no website link, photo or hours, keep to 3 bullets and 400 characters, and cover up to 3 towns. Upgrade whenever you like through the claim form.

Straight answers
How do I get started?
Send the sign-up form on the For businesses page (business name, phone, website and email), choose Promoted, then press Subscribe. A person reads your website, works out your category, the jobs you do and the towns you cover, and builds your listing. Already in the directory? Use the claim form instead and choose Promoted.
How do I pay?
By monthly subscription through Stripe's secure checkout: Apple Pay, Google Pay or card, where your device supports them, £4.99 a month. The checkout asks for your email and business name, so use the same email address as on the form; that is how we match your payment to your listing. We never take card details by phone or email.
How quickly is it switched on?
Within one working day of us seeing your payment. Nothing is automated: a person matches the payment to your form by email, adds your logo, photos, website, phone, hours, description and service points, publishes your profile page and emails you when it's live. Your free Aide report follows by email.
What can I put on my profile page, and how do I send it?
Your logo (square or wordmark; WebP, SVG or PNG), up to 8 photos with a short caption each, up to 20 service points of up to 80 characters, a description of up to 2,000 characters in as many paragraphs as you like, the towns you cover (or all of Lincolnshire), your website, phone number and opening hours. Reply to the sign-up or payment email, or write to hello@lincsdirectory.co.uk, with the files attached and the text in the message; there is no upload form. We resize photos (max 1,600 pixels wide, under 400 KB), read the text, and put it live within one working day. Plain words, no prices in the service points; we may ask you to change wording that is misleading or unsuitable.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time: from the link in Stripe's receipt emails, through the claim form, or by emailing hello@lincsdirectory.co.uk. There is no minimum term. Your listing stays Promoted until the end of the month you've paid for, then goes back to free; your name, area, category and ratings stay. We don't refund part of a month unless the law requires it, and we give at least 30 days' notice of any price change.
What if I'm not in the directory yet?
Join through the For businesses form. We create your free listing first (usually within a few days) and, if you chose Promoted, switch the extras on once your payment shows. You can also start free and upgrade later through the claim form.
How many towns can I cover?
If you work from home or travel to the job we show the towns you cover instead of an address. A free listing covers your home area, up to 3 towns. A Promoted listing covers as many of the 22 Lincolnshire towns as you serve, or the whole county (shown as “Covers all of Lincolnshire”), and appears on each of those towns' pages and job pages for your category. Tell us the towns on the sign-up or claim form; you can change them any time.
What does the free listing show?
Your business name, your category, your address or the towns you cover (up to 3), a pin on the map, customer ratings, and, when you add or claim the listing yourself, one line about your business (up to 100 characters), up to 3 service bullets and a short description of about five lines (up to 400 characters), all in your words and read by us before they appear, an “Added by the business” tag and an Update details link. Listings built from public records show the name, address and category only until the business claims them.
How do customer requests reach me?
By email. When someone sends a Get local help request for a job you do in a town you cover, or presses Request a quote on your listing, the request comes to LincsDirectory first. A person reads it and passes it on as an email marked “Lead from LincsDirectory”, with the customer's details and what they need. Promoted businesses that cover the job and town get requests first. Free listings get a forwarded request only when no Promoted business covers that job and town (a fallback). We aim to pass requests on within one working day. We can't promise how many you'll get, and being listed is not a recommendation; the customer deals with you directly.
