Last updated: 2 October 2026. This explains how TAG Sleaford Ltd, trading as LincsDirectory, uses personal information.
Who we are

The business directory
How listings are built
We build listings from two public datasets: the Food Standards Agency's Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) data, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0, and OpenStreetMap, published by its contributors under the Open Database Licence. From these we publish only a business name, address, postcode, category and map coordinates. We do not publish ratings, phone numbers, email addresses, opening hours or any other detail from public data.
For a sole trader or partnership, a business name and trading address can be personal information. We leave out records that appear to be private homes (for example home-based or mobile caterers, records with no premises address, flats, and names that look like an individual's name without a business name), and we leave out schools, hospitals, care homes, childcare and similar premises. We only list businesses in the seven Lincolnshire districts: Boston, East Lindsey, Lincoln, North Kesteven, South Holland, South Kesteven and West Lindsey.
Why we are allowed to do this
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: ours in running a useful local directory, and those of local people who want to find businesses and of businesses who want to be found. The information is already public, is limited to what a customer would see on the shop front, and every business has an easy way to correct or remove it. We have balanced this against the rights of the people concerned and will reconsider for any individual who objects.
Removal and correction
Any business or person can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time, free, using the claim form, by phone on 01522 424963, or by post. We act promptly and keep a record of removed businesses so they are not re-added when the public data is refreshed.
Claimed and Featured listings
When you claim a listing, we ask for your name, role, email address and phone number so we can check you are connected to the business and deal with your request. On a Featured listing we publish the details you ask us to publish (photo, website, phone number, opening hours, description). We process this to perform our contract with you.
Contacting businesses about the directory
We may write to or phone a listed business to tell it about its listing and the Featured option (legitimate interests). We follow the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations: we send marketing email only to corporate bodies such as limited companies and LLPs, always identifying ourselves and giving a simple way to opt out; we do not send unsolicited marketing email to sole traders or partnerships without their prior consent, and we contact them by post or phone instead; and we check the Telephone Preference Service before marketing calls. The public data we use contains no email addresses and we never scrape them. Ask us to stop at any time and we will add you to our do-not-contact list.
Forms on this site
When you send the claim, removal or advertising form we collect what you type: your name, email address, phone number, business name, website and your message. The form is delivered by Web3Forms, a form-handling provider, which passes your message to our email inbox and does not use it for anything else. We use your details to deal with your request (contract, or legitimate interests for enquiries) and keep them for as long as the listing or enquiry is live, then for up to 6 years where there is a payment record (legal obligation). Opt-out and removal requests are kept indefinitely so that we honour them.
Payments
For a Featured listing we email you a secure payment link. Our payment provider handles your card details; we never see or store full card numbers. The provider's own page may set cookies, as described in its notices.
Cookies and third parties
This site does not set cookies and does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Some content is loaded from other services, which can see your IP address when your browser requests it: Google Fonts (typefaces), cdnjs (the Leaflet map library), OpenStreetMap (map tiles on the search page) and Web3Forms (only when you send a form). Adverts on this site are our own or those of local businesses we work with directly; they are labelled "Advertisement" or "Sponsored" and do not track you. If we ever add analytics or non-essential cookies we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
Where information goes
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards the law recognises, such as the UK's approved transfer rules.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete information about you, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Use the form, phone 01522 424963, or write to the Sleaford address above. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
