New boiler installation in Stamford: the basics
What the job involves
Replacing a boiler is a job for a Gas Safe registered installer (or an OFTEC-registered technician for oil). They will size the boiler for your home, discuss combi versus system boilers, move the flue if needed, fit the required filter and controls, commission it and register the installation so the warranty and Building Regulations notification are in place.
Safety and good to know
Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer: check the Gas Safe Register (gassaferegister.co.uk) and ask to see the engineer's ID card. If you smell gas, leave the property, don't use flames or switches, open doors and windows, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. If you are considering a heat pump instead, look for an MCS-certified installer and check gov.uk for any current grant. Should I choose a combi or a system boiler?
A combi heats water on demand and suits homes with one bathroom and no room for a cylinder. A system boiler with a hot water cylinder copes better with two showers running at once. A good installer will ask about your household before recommending either.
