Garden design and landscaping in Lincolnshire

Garden design and landscaping: the basics

What the job involves

Landscapers build gardens: levelling, lawns, beds, paths, patios, decking, fencing, planting and lighting. Some design as well; others work to a plan from a garden designer. Soft landscaping (planting, turf) and hard landscaping (paving, walls, decking) are often priced separately.

What to ask a pro, and what to have ready

Have a sketch, photos and a budget range, and say how you use the garden. Ask for a written scope with a drawing, a programme, who removes waste, and whether planting comes with a replacement period if it fails.

Safety and good to know

Decking and raised platforms over a certain height, and walls near boundaries, can have planning conditions, so ask the landscaper to check. LincsDirectory doesn't vet or endorse businesses — always check credentials and get a written quote.

Good to know

a phased plan lets you spread the cost: hard landscaping first, planting second, lighting and furniture later. Ask the landscaper about drainage, because new patios and raised beds change where rainwater goes. Keep a copy of the plan and plant list for future maintenance.
